We honor people at graduations and retirements for their contribution to society and themselves. Most of us adults have been to one or the other or both. I have been fortunate to have been to both. There are many people I have admired and learned from whom I honor greatly. For example, my 6th grade teacher, Miss Reimer is the reason I’m still a teacher, mentor and leader in ‘Mindful Leadership.’ I have been fortunate to have had bosses whom I admire greatly for their respect, guidance and role modeling. You see, we learn far more from our role models’ actions than from their words. John C. Maxwell says, “Respect is something you did today that will give you honor tomorrow.” I want respect today even more than I want honor tomorrow. And, I wish you respect as well today!
