As much as I challenge you to learn new skills, the trick is to practice your skills until they become second nature. I believe that this is the biggest challenge.
I have taught new skills to many adults in my life as an educator. When teaching young students, we practice new skills daily. It’s just natural every day routine. However, when I have taught adults, I don’t have the luxury of practicing the new skills I have taught them.
Therefore, I challenge my people to make a plan for continuing to practice the new skills they have learned. I ask them to plan for their continued practice by identifying the times, people and place they will practice.
As a new learner in watercolour art and writing, I am reminded of how important each day of practice is for me. It’s not easygoing but I have a plan and challenge myself to practice even if it’s not perfect.
