J.C. Maxwell, in a minute with Maxwell spoke about persistence and equated it to the story of The Little Engine That Could. The engine believed he could do it and he chugged and chugged with great difficulties and eventually made it. Persistence has as its motivation – anticipation which keeps me in the game. Persistence says, “I think I’m going to find my way.” In a recent survey, a group of 10 people were put in a room to find the answer to a situation. After about an hour, 5 people were removed. In every case, the 5 remaining came up with better-more creative solution. If you stay with something longer, you will generate a better solution all the time. The next time you’re tempted to quit, give it another hour. Persistence pays.
