Today is mental health day! Let’s all remember loved ones in our circle who struggle with mental health issues. Many of them suffer silently.
I was fortunate to be part of a school today where they honoured mental health. We watched videos of the Canadian statistics of mental health. It amazes me to learn that many mental health victims endure violence and ridicule from ignorance. Another statistic that floored me was that mental health victims are 3 times more prevalent than cancer victims.
The students did a lovely activity which challenged them to write inspiring quotes for people struggling with mental health. The quotes were statements like, “You can do this.” “Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.” “Failure is just an opportunity to try again.”
Let’s all make someone’s life a little more beautiful by being that one person who listens with empathy. We all have these people in our lives. You can make a difference! Remember, “To the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world.”
