One of Stephen Coveys 7 Habits is to seek first to understand, then to be understood. In an article I read today on LinkedIn, Simon Sinek also states that we must listen first and then speak. Not only does this help people realize you care about what they have to say, but also if you’re listening carefully, you have a better advantage because now you know what others are thinking. You have a better idea of what you need to say about the topic which will empower others. Therefore you can build a more inclusive team.
