Today’s challenge from John C. Maxwell is to assess whether you are leading with love as a leader. We must challenge ourselves to be honest about whether we love the people we are leading. Maxwell says, “It’s not about the leader. It’s wonderful if the people love the leader but it’s even more wonderful if the leader believes in the people.” The moment I stop loving the people I am leading, I need to stop leading. This challenge reminds me of Simon Sinek’s post on LinkedIn today. Sinek admonishes us to accept the responsibility to engage the people who show up every day. If you are not engaged in your people, they will not be engaged. As educators, we know how true that is with our students. Research and our own experiences show that the teacher who engages with each student has a successful teacher/student relationship. It’s all about Relationships.
