Years ago, I gave my Father a small placard that read “Laughter is cheap medicine.” During mu Dad’s early onset with Alzheimer’s, he laughed at almost anything. And, his laughter was contagious.
Today Terry Small posted a lovely quote about how laughter literally heals our brains. I have always believed that to be true. When I was learning about Theraplay, we did several activities that included laughter.
One activity was us lying in a circle with our heads on each other’s bellies. Someone started laughing and the entire group laughed until we cried.
I’ve used laughter therapy often with students. It really works. Sometimes each of us would bring a joke to a therapy session and it always helped all of us, no matter how corny they were. So, I challenge you to laugh often and hard with your belly.
