Gavin McCormack sent me an inspiring email about the importance of educators having empathy for our students. He says that if we dig deeper into why a child isn’t following the rules o paying attention in class, we find that the reason won’t make our blood boil, it will make your heart break.
Empathy and understanding are best learned when we model them as adults. This is so very important for us educators. If we want our students to have empathy, we must model it. Students will copy the behaviour of their teachers rather than listen to what they say.
