According to J. C. Maxwell, tolerance is a result of relationships. When we get to know others, take our fences and walls down, we begin to see them from their perspective. We must truly value people.
I cannot believe that I have often made judgment calls on others before I even tried to learn about them. Being tolerant became so important to me that I made it my goal to be less judgmental on others. It’s not easy! I have failed many times.
However, when I catch myself, I step back and try to step into their shoes. What an eye opener! I’ve learned to truly value people, to look for their gift. I believe that we all have a purpose for making a difference to each other. We all have the potential to bring value to those people we encounter each day.
In order to discover the value in others we must be tolerant. Try it!
