Once more I enjoyed Gavin McCormack’s email on a noisy, buzzing classroom is absolutely amazing. Traditional quiet classrooms are not necessarily productive classrooms. I’ve always loved when my students are learning together and when there’s a lot of learning with each other happening.
We sometimes confuse noise with idle behaviour and yet all research shows that we learn better through collaboration and discussions. I remember that being taught as a student teacher, that if I wanted a good mark, I had to have a quiet classroom. However, I’ve always enjoyed being part of a buzzing group of students who work together and enjoy learning together.
