Today I was reminded of how important mistakes are for all of us! Leadership First posted a quote on LinkedIn about mistakes and I totally agree!
Mistakes are not a sign of weakness! Mistakes are opportunities to learn! There should be no shame in making mistakes! The disgrace is in failing to admit, correct and learn from it.
Jack Wells wrote, “When people make mistakes, the last thing they need is discipline. It’s time for encouragement and confidence building. The job at this point is to re-store self-confidence. I think “piling on” when someone is down is one of the worst things any of us can do.”
I hope educators learn this soon! Let’s celebrate our mistakes and role-model how great an opportunity making mistakes is as adults so that our children will be able to learn more from their mistakes!
