Dr. Jody Carrington posted an inspiring message about the importance of connection for human beings. As a guidance Counsellor, I have experienced the same thoughts. Carrington writes:
“Us humans are wired for connection. And, connection is the answer…to all plights big and small…even on a physiological level – our cortisol levels decrease and our oxytocin levels increase when we are in the presence of humans.”
Globally, connection been a challenge during this pandemic. I personally have felt the loss of true connection, face to face communication. Somehow texts, phone calls and zoom cannot replace a physical human connection.
However, I feel fortunate for today’s technology to connect in ways that past pandemics did not offer. I am grateful for my circle of family and friends who have provided me with my human needs.
