I loved David Geurin’s post on Twitter about what education truly is. He states that “Education is about developing an identity as a learner. The goal isn’t to complete an assignment. It’s to be a questioner. The goal isn’t to read a book. It’s to be a reader.”
It’s so true! We must teach our students to think, to question, to assess what they’re learning and to analyze how the materials fit into their lives. This preparation for the future.
Too often students say schools are boring. I believe that’s because it is not meaningful to them. Educators must help their students make their learning meaningful and that happens when we teach them to question and become a thinker.
