I love the following story which was posted on LinkedIn about what true riches are. “It’s the age old saying that money doesn’t make us rich but it’s love, friendship, values, kindness, our beliefs and of course our families.”
So here’s a wonderful story to accompany the above.
One day a wealthy farmer took his daughter out to visit some poor families on a farm. The people they visited on their farm spent time with their families. On their return home, the father asked his daughter, “Did you enjoy the day out at the farm?”
The daughter replied, “I had a great day, thank you.”
The father then proceeded to ask, “Did you see how the people with very little money live?”
“Absolutely I did, dad,” replied the daughter.
“So what was great about your day then,” asked the father.
The daughter answered, “Well, we have one dog, they had 5 plus 3 cats. We have a pool, they have a river. Wee have light bulbs, they have stars. We buy our food, they grow theirs. We have walls to protect us, they have each other. We have technology, they spend their time with family and friends.”
The father was speechless. Then, the daughter added, “Thanks for showing me how poor we are, dad.”
