This morning, as I continued reading Brene Brown’s book The Gifts of Imperfection, it hit me that I am truly a risk taker. I also realized that I am sometimes scared that my risk taking is crazy. I have doubts at times that what I feel passionate about is not always popular. I left the safety net of the Restitution team because I felt drawn to spreading peace another way, through mentoring and teaching others about “Leadership” and “Mindfulness.” I saw these two topics as a deepening of what Diane Gossen’s Restitution has taught me. And, I will always be grateful for Restitution and Control Theory which I have taught and practiced for the past 20 years. So, I am moving forward with my own journey of what I see as the next steps.
Brown states, “…practicing authenticity can feel like a daunting choice – there’s risk involved in putting your true self out in the world. But I believe there is even more risk in hiding yourself and your gifts from the world. Our unexpressed ideas, opinions, and contributions don’t just go away. They are likely to fester and eat away at our worthiness.”
So, I am taking a risk that other educators, leaders and parents are also willing to take a risk at working with me and willing to take a chance on my passion of making the world, our children, families and companies more peaceful. Please check out my “Teachables” and “Blog” and “Quote of the Day.” I would love your feedback!
Have an awesome day!
